Here’s a HIGH YIELD Dividend Portfolio I Created (for fun) | ASX Australia
This week I decided to create an example dividend portfolio. So I pretended I was starting from scratch and went through some of the best dividend paying companies and chose ten different stocks based mostly on their dividend yield and consistency in paying over time,
I was really mindful to get a good mix of sectors and different sized companies to create a well balanced portfolio.
***
TIMESTAMPS:
00:00 How and why I created this dividend portfolio
01:07 The 10 high yield companies
01:33 The sectors of the dividend portfolio
01:57 Each company in more detail looking at the dividend growth and price growth
03:29 Average price growth of all companies over the past 5 years
03:51 What order to purchase companies in a dividend portfolio
05:00 Companies ranked by dividend yield
05:14 Companies ranked by market capitalization
05:26 Thanks for watching

Head to Head: Investing in the SAME companies as an ETF (VAS)
Переглядів 6 тис.21 день тому
What if you invested in the same companies as the most popular ETF in Australia (VAS - Vanguard's Australian Shares ETF)? I decided to see what would happen over the past five & ten years if we compared VAS with its top 10 holdings. Sure, this isn’t a completely fair comparison given that I’m comparing 10 companies to 300, but since these top ten make up about 50% of VAS’s holdings, I thought i...

Are My Dividend Picks Any Good? Let’s Find Out 👀

Over the past few years, I've done a lot of dividend research videos resulting in me picking a few companies that I considered good dividend stocks to invest in. But I've never gone back to look at what I actually recommended to see how they are doing now. So let's do that. In this video, I go back to 'dividend picks' videos I made 1, 2, and 3 years ago to see how they are doing today based on ...
Investing when the Stock Market hits all-time HIGHS? 📈
Переглядів 6 тис.2 місяці тому
Should you buy (or sell) when the stock market is at record highs? Currently, the All Ordinaries index is hovering around 8000 points. Which is the highest it's ever been. Which is cool but it isn’t that significant overall given that we’ve had all-time highs before and we’ll continue to have them in the future. It’s not actually that rare. And it also doesn’t mean that every company is at an a...

Great topic Tracey! The other downside of ETFs is that these massive companies are using the investor’s money to have a strong influence on the board and direction of the company without having any of their own ‘skin in the game’. I doubt they would really care if a company went bust due their own agenda causing it to fail in the long term. I’m certainly staying away from ETFs for this reason. Personal choice as it is…..

Good topic. The etf is diversified but if you only hold that one find and it goes under for some reason, you still lose everything. Another example is Black Rock pushing political decisions on the businesses it holds which destroys the businesses customer base.

I have a parcel of ANZ and several of those suggestions on a watch list, so found this video pretty interesting. Did you consider if any had potential to become yield traps? Just as an aside, I’ve wanted to pull the trigger on FMG for a while but every Morningstar article that covers FMG is so negative, plus the broker ratings seem to be universally negative… FMG seems to be really out of favour with the equity gurus of late.

It is videos like this that confirm my hesitancy with dividend investing. 6 of the 10 stocks you have highlighted is under performing the asx indicies ytd. I don't understand why you would attracted to dividends over the strength of the stock as an investment. Essentially, these stocks on the list which are underperforming the all ords, your principle is is declining. Not having a go at you Tracey, just trying to grasp an understanding of the appeal of dividend investing.

Im not speaking for Tracey, but it is common amongst retirees to not care about the capital so long as the passive income is consistent and assured. If they aren’t drawing down then the share price doesn’t matter. These are genuine set and forget investors. Edited to add: someone in the comments described this idea as them not caring whether the cow got fat or thin, so long as it was giving milk. lol

The value of Flybuy points hasn't changed in nearly quarter of a century. One FB point = half a cent. Years ago, 2000 FB points ($10) was worth something. Now it can get you a tin of baked beans. Shell is more expensive fuel. They up their price to cover the Coles 2c off. Woollies is the same. Used to have value, but no longer. Ditto Qantas points. 100,000 points could get you an around the world trip once. Now it is a one way trip to Europe or US if you are lucky.

Contrary to what this video suggests, investing in shares is inherently risky. There are too many factors affecting performance of individual shares and the sharemarket in general to make returns from investing predictable. All indicators used in this video to select individual companies are based on their PAST performance of the particular stock which are then extrapolated into the FUTURE. Put it simply, if you are on a modest income and you have to save money to invest, you can't afford to invest.

Hi Tracy, love your videos. However there is a flaw in your argument in this video. This comparison isn’t a practical comparison because for people who are good at picking stocks i.e they will ended up picking top performing company and out perform the ETF. Therefore, they prefer buying individual stocks over ETFs like yourself. But for people who are not good at picking stock, they will not end up picking those stocks who got featured in this video and will therefore under perform the ETF. The point of buying ETF is that you have accepted you want average market performance.

    • @AFW80
      @AFW80 19 днів тому

I think the flaws lie in: (1) it’s based on today’s top 10, not the top 10 from five or ten years ago; and (2) the absence of changes in weightings among the top 10 over time though this second point was acknowledged in the video. Would love to see this done using the top 10 from five or ten years ago!
